The trip to the desert is quite long, about 9 hours driving from Marrakech and 5 hours from Ouarzazate, but it should not be rushed. As Anais Nin once said "Always remember that it is better to travel well than to arrive". For sure, one wants to arrive at the camp near sunset, but you don’t want to hurry either. We would suggest spending one night or two at some Kasbah en route to the desert, in Ouarzazate, Draa Valley, Dades Gorges, Agdz or Zagora, depending on which desert you're heading to. The fastest way to reach Mahamid, Chegaga or Merzouga desert is by private jet or domestic flights. There are couple of airports where you can land in order to be transported to the desert, and the nearest one to Mahamid desert is Zagora airport, about two to three hours driving from our Kasbah Sahara Services hotel and there is an extra hour in order to reach the big dunes of Chegaga. Whereas Errachidia airport driving hours from Merzouga dunes are two hours.
